Community by 2020 should be able to compete globally with other nations. The Students of Physics Education still have less ability in problem solving using concepts of physics, particularly on the subject Mechanics. Among the learning method that is capable give the students to have a wide range of capabilities, especially in solving the problems, discuss, and put forward the idea of learning is a method of Recitation and Treffinger. This research distinguishes the application of Treffinger and Resitation learning methode towards mastery of concepts and activeness of students in learning physics. The method used is Quasi Experiment. The population in this study were students of physics department of education, while the sample is student education department of physics UAD who are taking courses in the mechanics of class A and B. Pre test given before the learning takes place, and post test given after the learning takes place. Observations on the activity of the students do during the learning takes place. Observed during the learning process on the class A class B compared with that obtained by the learning method which could further enhance the understanding of the concept and activity of students. The results showed that the students of class A (the method of Recitation), the student conceptual understanding is significantly higher than the students of class B. The average post test of class A was 9.2 while the average post test of class B is 8.5. The activity of the students in class B is higher than class A. From the observation, the average score in the class A is 19.5 while the average in the class B is 25.5.
