The Development of Chemistry Invidualized Education Program (IEP) Based on Integration of Islam - Science Approach for Students with Disabilities

Abstract


Individualized Education Program (IEP) for chemistry lesson is a document that must be provided for students with disabilities to support their learning achievement. This study aimed at developing chemistry IEP based on Islam - science integration approach. Chemistry IEP can be developed through 7 stages: assessment, collaboration, writing, introducing, monitoring, reviewing, and reporting, but this study limited to the writing stage. Using the interview guides; checklists; and assessment sheets for: material experts, inclusive education experts, media experts, and chemistry teachers; data were analyzed descriptively qualitative. Islam - science integration approach can be a foundation to develop the chemistry IEP by seeking support for the verses of the Qur'an and corresponding hadiths. Even although almost all the subject matter in chemistry can be integrated with Islamic values, this study only developed two contents, namely Periodic System of Elements and Reaction Rate. Syllabi, annual and semester program, and lesson plan have been adapted in developing the Chemistry IEP for students with disabilities.
